MANCHESTER - Mildred Palmer "Granny" passed away August 30th peacefully at home surrounded by her family, at the age of 90. She was born in York on February 28, 1933 and was the widow of William D. Palmer, to whom she was married for 42 years.

She spent her days growing up on the family farm. Mildred was a much-loved waitress fro many years at the former Rutter's Restaurant. She then became a lunch lady that the kids adored before retiring at the age of 79 from North Hills Elementary. She loved spending time with her grandkids, especially 1a.m., Ellio's Pizzas. Her homemade dinners with the whole family, were a Sunday tradition.

 

Mrs. Palmer is survived by four children, Charles Goodwin and Janet, Darlene Yorgey and Paul, Brenda Billet and Vernon, Annette Rufle and Rick; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Price. She was preceded in the death by siblings, Richard, Agnes, Evelyn, Helen, and Fairy.

 

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Viewings will be Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, 2290 School St., York (Shiloh), Officiating will be Pastor, Benjamin Ortiz. Final resting place will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery, York. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

The Family has requested, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Resesrch Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
